On Friday, October 3rd, the Carey Seahawks would travel to Valley Stream North to take on the Spartans in a rivalry matchup. Going into the game, the Seahawks were looking to continue their undefeated season following a 35-14 victory at South Side, but Valley Stream North was looking to bounce back from a 41-7 loss against Bethpage.
To start off the game, Carey would kick the ball to the Spartans, which would land in the back of the end zone for a touchback to bring them to the 20 yard line. The Spartans would be able to pick up a first down, but they would have to punt it, giving the Seahawks the ball on the 40 yard line. Carey would be able to pick up 4 first downs, where Joncarlo Carbone would get into the end zone on a jet sweep, followed by an extra point to put them up 7-0. On Carey’s kickoff, the Spartans would return it to the 39 yard line. Justin DiPietro would get 2 tackle for losses, as the Spartans would go 3 and out to give the Seahawks the ball back at the 42 yard line, but the Spartans would take it back on an interception to put them at the 35 yard line. The Spartans would give the Seahawks the ball on the 48 yard line off of a turnover on downs at the end of the first quarter.
Carey would be able to get a first down on their first drive of the 2nd quarter, but they would also give up a turnover in downs to give the Spartans the ball on the 35 yard line, but they would punt it again, with the return going up to the 40 yard line. Carey would get 3 first downs on the drive, ending the drive with a 1 yard rushing touchdown by Justin DiPietro, followed by an extra point by Michael Lombardi to put Carey up 14-0. Valley Stream North would carry the kickoff up to the 30 yard line. The Spartans would be able to get to the first down marker twice, but they wouldn’t be able to reach the end zone before the clock ran out, bringing Carey into halftime with a 14-0 lead.
To start the second half, Carey would receive the ball, getting up to the 20 yard line off of a touchback, but the Spartans would force them to punt the ball, putting them at the 46 yard line. On the Spartans’ first drive of the second half, they would get a first down, but commit a turnover on downs at the 36 yard line. The Seahawks would get past the first down marker five times on a long drive, with David Avila punching it in for a touchdown, followed by an extra point by Michael Lombardi to extend their lead to 21-0. Carey’s kickoff would land in the back of the end zone to put the Spartans at the 20 yard line to start their drive. On their drive, Valley Stream North reached the first down marker once, but Carey would force them to punt yet again, with the return bringing them to the Spartans’ 45 yard line, where they would reach the first down on their first play, followed by a 34 yard receiving touchdown by Jayden Radow on the second play of the drive, extending their lead to 28-0 with Michael Lombardi getting the extra point, which would be the score at the end of the 3rd quarter.
To start the 4th quarter, Carey would kick the ball to the Spartans, with the return getting up to the 18 yard line. On this drive, Valley Stream North would get two first downs and a rushing touchdown to put them on the board, making it a 28-6 game. Carey’s kickoff return would get up to the 30 yard line. Carey would get 2 first downs on this drive, but they would cough up the football, giving Valley Stream North the ball on the 46 yard line. The Spartans would manage to get 2 first downs, but they wouldn’t get into the end zone before the clock ran out, as the Seahawks would get the win 28-6 to remain undefeated.
