On Friday, November 22, the Carey Seahawks traveled back to Hofstra to play the Mepham Pirates in their championship game. Last week, they beat Roosevelt 15-0. Now, they’re looking to finish out the Nassau County playoffs with a win. 

To start the 1st quarter, Carey would receive the ball. They would start the drive at their own 33 yard line. The first play would be an attempted pass, but it would fall incomplete after a tip. Chris Obertis would run the ball on 2nd down for a 9 yard gain. On 3rd down, Justin DiPietro would run the ball all the way to the other 47 for a 1st down. On 1st down, DiPietro would run the ball again, picking up 5 yards. DiPietro would run it again on 2nd down, but would only pick up 1 yard. On 3rd down, Christian Todaro would take the handoff, picking up a 1st down. On 1st down, DiPietro would run it again, picking up 8 yards. On 2nd down, Todaro would run the ball to get another 1st down. On 1st down, they would hand it off to Justin DiPietro again to pick up 9 yards. He would run the ball again on 2nd down, and he would get the first down again. On 1st down, DiPietro would get the ball again, picking up 8 yards. He would run it again on 2nd down, getting a touchdown. This would be followed up by an extra point by Joshua Polamino to put Carey up 7-0. On the kickoff, Mepham would bring the ball up to the 34 yard line. On 1st down, Mepham would complete a pass for a first down at the 50. Mepham would pass the ball again on 1st down to pick up 2, followed up by another pass to get 4 more. They would run the ball on third down to get a first down. They were passing on first down to get all the way up to the 26 followed up by another pass that would be taken down to the 5 yard line. They run the ball on first down, but we get pushed down 2 yards to get to a second and seven. They would pass the ball on 2nd down, but would get pushed back 3 to the 10 yard line. On 3rd down, they would pass the ball into the end zone for a touchdown to make the score 7-7. Joncarlo Carbone would carry the ball to the 30 yard line on the kickoff. On 1st down, he would run the ball, getting 2 yards. However, they would take a penalty, pushing them back 5 yards. On 2nd down, they would pass the ball but it would be incomplete. On 3rd down, they would pass the ball, but they would lose 5 yards. They would punt it on 4th down. The punt would land at the 32 yard line. On 1st down, they would pass it but it would be incomplete. On 2nd down, they would pass it again, but Howie Silverstein would knock it down. On 3rd down, they would pass it again, but it would be overthrown. They would punt it on 4th down, but it would land at the 41. On 1st down, Justin DiPietro would run the ball for a 1st down. On 1st down, he would run it again for another 1st down, which would be the final play of the 1st quarter.

On 1st down, Justin DiPietro would run it again for another 1st down at the 13. They would hand it off to DiPietro, but they would get no gain. On 2nd down, it would go back to DiPietro, but there would be no gain again. They would hand it off to DiPietro again on 3rd down, but there would be no gain again. They would pass it on 4th down, but it would be incomplete, forcing a turnover on downs. On 1st down, they would  run a quarterback run, getting a 1st down. They would hand the ball off on 1st down, getting another first down. On 1st down, they would hand it off for a 5 yard gain. On 2nd down, they would pass the ball, but it would be incomplete. On 3rd down, they would pass it again for a 1st down. They would run a quarterback run on 1st down to pick up 3 yards at the 45. On 2nd down, they would pass the ball for a 3rd and 3. On 3rd down, they would pass the ball, but they would get no yards. They would punt the ball on 4th down, which would land at Carey’s 2 yard line. On 1st down, Justin DiPietro would run the ball for 8 yards. On 2nd down, Justin DiPietro would run it again for a 1st down. On 1st down, Christian Todaro would run it all the way down to the 46. On 1st down, Chris Obertis would run the ball for 3 yards. On 2nd down, they would attempt a pass, but they would get sacked. On 3rd down, they would pass the ball to Justin DiPietro, but they would only gain 2 yards. On 4th down, they would punt the ball, which would land at the 28 yard line. On 1st down, they would run the ball, but they would get no gain. On 2nd down, they would run it again, but they would get pushed back to the 25. On 3rd down, they would attempt a pass that would get taken down for a huge gain, but would get called back for a holding call. On 3rd down, they would run the ball, but a facemask would be called on Carey, which would result in a replay of 3rd down. On 3rd down, they would run the ball, but would only gain a few yards, which would result in a 4th and 7. They would punt on 4th down, which would only land at Carey’s 48 yard line. They would attempt a pass on 2nd down, but it would fall incomplete. On 2nd down, Chris Obertis would pass the ball to Michael Vederosa for a gain of 8. On 3rd and 2, they would hand the ball off to Justin DiPietro, but would only get a yard. On 4th and 1, they would attempt a pass, but would fall incomplete to end the half. 

The kickoff would go to Mepham to start the 3rd quarter, which would be taken down to the 31. On 1st down, the quarterback would take the ball, but would get forced out of bounds for a lo ss of 3. On 2nd down, they would pass the ball for a 1st down. On 1st down, they would hand the ball off, but would only pick up 2 yards for a 2nd and 8 at the 46. On 2nd down, they would attempt to pass the ball, but Christian Anaya would get a sack, which would force a 3rd and 19. On 3rd down, they would attempt a pass, but it would fall incomplete to force a punt. The punt would be taken down to the 43 yard line. On 1st down, they would hand the ball off to Justin DiPietro for a 2nd and 6. On 2nd down, they would hand the ball off to Christian Todaro, but they would call a holding on Carey to push them back 10 yards. On 2nd and 15, they would hand the ball off to Todaro again, leading to a 3rd and 6. They would hand it off to Todaro again, but they would get no yardage, forcing them to punt. The punt would be faked, however, which would be taken down to the 24 by Billy Koutsoumbaris. On 1st down, Christian Todaro would run the ball to gain a yard. On 2nd and 9, they would hand it off to Todaro again, but would gain a yard again. On 3rd down, Todaro would run it again, getting a 4th and 1. On 4th down, they would hand the ball off to Justin DiPietro to get a 1st down at the 11. On 1st down, Justin DiPietro would run the ball to the end zone for a touchdown, followed up by an extra point to give Carey the lead 14-7. The kickoff would be taken to the 28. On 1st down, they would pass the ball, but would be tackled for a loss of 2 for a 2nd and 12. On 2nd down, they would attempt a pass, but it would fall incomplete. On 3rd down, they would attempt another pass, but it would be knocked away. They would punt  the ball on 4th down, landing at the 42. On 1st down, they would run the ball for a 3 yard gain. Christian Todaro would run the ball on 2nd down for 5 yards. On 3rd down, they would run the ball for 2 yards. On 4th down, they would give the ball to Justin DiPietro for a 1st down. On 1st down, they would hand the ball off to DiPietro again for 4 yards. On 3rd down, they would give it to DiPietro for a 3 yard gain to end the 3rd quarter. 

On 3rd and 3, they would hand the ball off to Justin DiPietro to get a 1st down. On 1st down, they would hand it off to Justin DiPietro for 2 yards. They would hand the ball of again on 2nd down to DiPietro do get all the way up to the 7 yard line and a 1st down. On 1st down, they would hand it off to DiPietro for a yard. On 2nd down, DiPietro would get the ball again for 3 yards. On 3rd down, they would give it to DiPietro for another run for a 4th and 1. On 4th down, Justin DiPietro would run it in for a touchdown to make the score 21-7. The kickoff would be taken to the 36. On 1st down, they would attempt a pass but it would be incomplete. On 2nd down, they would pass the ball but they would lose a yard. On 3rd down, they would complete a pass, but commit a holding for a 3rd and 21. On 3rd down, they would pass the ball to convert a 1st down. On 1st down, they would attempt a pass that would be incomplete. On 2nd down, they would pass it again, but would lose 3 yards. On 3rd down, they attempt a ball but would take a penalty for intentional grounding out of a sack. They would attempt a pass on 4th down with 5:49 left on the clock, but would be incomplete to give Carey the ball back.  On 1st down, they would hand the ball off to  DiPietro for a 2nd and 7 at the 27 yard line. On 2nd down, they would give it to DiPietro, but wouldn’t get any yardage. On 3rd down, they would hand it off to Christian Todaro for a 4th and 5.  On 4th down, they would go for it, scoring a touchdown off of a pass caught by Tristan Hickis to make the score 28-7. The kickoff would be returned to the 41. On 1st down, they would commit a holding, followed up by an incomplete pass for a 2nd and 20. On 2nd down, they would make another incomplete pass. On 3rd down, they would complete a pass but for only 3rd down. On 4th down, they would pass the ball but it would fall incomplete. On 

1st down, Carey would run the ball but lose a yard. On 2nd down, they would hand the nball off to Justin DiPietro but wouldn’t get a yard. On 3rd down, they would hand it off to Joncarlo Carbone, but would lose 2 yards. On 4th down, they would hand the ball off to Max Wright to end the game, giving Carey the 2024 Nassau County championship.
