On Friday, November 22, the Carey Seahawks traveled back to Hofstra to play the Mepham Pirates in their championship game. Last week, they beat Roosevelt 15-0. Now, they’re looking to finish out the Nassau County playoffs with a win.
To start the 1st quarter, Carey would receive the ball. They would start the drive at their own 33 yard line. The first play would be an attempted pass, but it would fall incomplete after a tip. Chris Obertis would run the ball on 2nd down for a 9 yard gain. On 3rd down, Justin DiPietro would run the ball all the way to the other 47 for a 1st down. On 1st down, DiPietro would run the ball again, picking up 5 yards. DiPietro would run it again on 2nd down, but would only pick up 1 yard. On 3rd down, Christian Todaro would take the handoff, picking up a 1st down. On 1st down, DiPietro would run it again, picking up 8 yards. On 2nd down, Todaro would run the ball to get another 1st down. On 1st down, they would hand it off to Justin DiPietro again to pick up 9 yards. He would run the ball again on 2nd down, and he would get the first down again. On 1st down, DiPietro would get the ball again, picking up 8 yards. He would run it again on 2nd down, getting a touchdown. This would be followed up by an extra point by Joshua Polamino to put Carey up 7-0. On the kickoff, Mepham would bring the ball up to the 34 yard line. On 1st down, Mepham would complete a pass for a first down at the 50. Mepham would pass the ball again on 1st down to pick up 2, followed up by another pass to get 4 more. They would run the ball on third down to get a first down. They were passing on first down to get all the way up to the 26 followed up by another pass that would be taken down to the 5 yard line. They run the ball on first down, but we get pushed down 2 yards to get to a second and seven. They would pass the ball on 2nd down, but would get pushed back 3 to the 10 yard line. On 3rd down, they would pass the ball into the end zone for a touchdown to make the score 7-7. Joncarlo Carbone would carry the ball to the 30 yard line on the kickoff. On 1st down, he would run the ball, getting 2 yards. However, they would take a penalty, pushing them back 5 yards. On 2nd down, they would pass the ball but it would be incomplete. On 2nd down, they would pass the ball but they would lose a yard. On 3rd down, they would complete a pass, but commit a holding for a 3rd and 21.
