Holiday Recipes from Different Cultures
Christmas time is here, and the Carey Clipper is excited to be offering a few recipes from cultures around the world!
- France:
In France, Le bûche de Noël (the Yule Log), is a staple dessert. This dessert actually has its origins from a log, which was a large piece of wood that was chosen and decorated to be burned on the night of Christmas Eve. This chocolate filled-desert is an annual delight for families in France!

- Hungary:
Bejgli is a Hungarian pastry made during Christmas time. The two main varieties of this dish are poppy seed filling and walnut filling.

- Colombia:
In Colombia, “Noche Buena” is a tradition that families anticipate throughout the Christmas season. Families gather to cook traditional Colombian foods such as buñelos (fried dough pastries), arroz con leche (rice pudding), natilla (custard-like dessert), and more! While the food is delicious, the company of family is even more rewarding, and the night concludes with the sharing of gifts.
- Italy:
Panettone is a tall bread in the shape of a cake. This savory recipe is several stories high, which makes it a great starter for any Christmas meal!
