It was senior week here at Carey High School! The festivities were alive and very emotional for some because senior day is always a huge game for all graduates. Unfortunately for the Seahawks the festivities that they’ve been used to for the past 18 games which was winning was cut short by the Wantagh Warriors in a gut wrenching 41-23 loss.
Tristan Hickis who is now the teams starting Quarterback after real starting Quarterback Michael Agostino went down in game 1 is now injured with a sprained ankle. Per coach Stanley it should only be day to day in hopes of having him back behind center next Saturday when the Seahawks take on Bethpage. If Tristan is unable to go the next man up will either be Sal D’Amato or James McGrath which is to be determined during practice reps throughout the week.
This was a very tough loss for the Seahawks with it being their first loss in 18 straight games. Coach Stanley mentioned after the game “we tell our players seasons are not defined in week 7, they are defined in November. We have to learn from our mistakes and turn the page.” Very true words out of the mouth of Coach Stanley as the Seahawks embrace the playoffs soon coming upon them.
As for key stats from the game, superstar running back Justin Depietro had 2 rushing touchdowns and James McGrath had a kick off return for a touchdown. Overall offensively another very solid game especially out of their work horse guy in Justin Depietro.
Next weekend for the Seahawks they will travel to take on Bethpage in what will be a really big matchup with Bethpage being 6-1 as well as the Seahawks. This matchup will determine very important playoff seeding. Catch the Seahawks at Bethpage this Saturday November 1st for the big game.
