This past week, Carey did their best to be extra kind! Different days of the week were themed around different activities, all encouraging students to help each other and be thoughtful.
On Monday, 11/10, a Chalk the Walk event was held outside the building. Students drew positive designs, and filled the usually-bare concrete up with color and motivation! The event was a great way to kick off the week, leaving designs that would last there for the rest of the time.
On Wednesday, 11/12, “Kindness Coupons” were given out. These were awarded to students that were caught doing something kind. In return for their support of others, they received a reward!
On Thursday, 11/13, the HEART committee arranged messages of gratitude. Students were encouraged to write kind messages to people they value. These actions will create stronger unity within the HFC community.
On Friday, 11/14, Kindness Week was concluded with a visit from the Dunkin’ truck! During lunch periods, students were given sample cups of Dunkin’ refreshers. The activity brought an extra sweetness to the end of the week—figuratively and literally. As well, a Feathers of Kindness exhibit was created outside of the library entrance. Students created colorful feathers adorned with beautiful messages, and got their work displayed to take photos by.
Right now, kindness is more imperative than ever. Celebrating Kindness Week promotes positive physical and mental health, and strengthens the bond between students. It reminds people that everyone is connected, and deserves the same respect. Take the messages accentuated from Kindness week, and use them in your daily life. If taking one thing from the week, remember that everyone deserves kindness!
