Happy May the 4th be with you everyone! Although today isn’t about Star Wars today is about how our Carey Lacrosse team is doing. The boys have been buzzing and have now a good looking record of 8-5 on the season. In their very last game which was their biggest of the season they beat Mepham by a score of 15-5. With that win Carey gives themselves better seeding in this year’s playoffs. Scoring in this game first and foremost we gotta talk about James McGrath he has been a wrecking machine for this year’s Carey team. James scored 7 goals and had 2 assists in this past game versus Mepham which puts him at 46 goals and a total of 63 points on the season. What a season for the soon to be Adelphi panther. Along with that Michael Carollo had himself a very nice game with a hat trick of 3 goals and also added 2 assists, Vince vicari also had himself a hat trick with 3 goals and added an assist, Ethan peltzer got into the scoring also with a goal and an assist, Jaden radow had a goal and 4 assists and last but not least dean martucci had himself an assist in the game. Coach Aiello had a few things to say about the state of his team after the game. Starting with the following quote about Carey’s leading scorer James McGrath. “McGrath is getting everybody’s best defensemen, he plays man down with a long pole, he bumps up the middle, he’s everywhere.” James McGraths 64 points is an outstanding mark to reach especially with still regular season games remaining on their schedule. Coach Aiello also praised his seniors on his defense saying “James steinburg, jack leimgruber and Zach Montante the three seniors on the team have been playing great defense.” The team had defensive struggles but have seemed to find their stride. Coach Aiello emphasized the importance of the Mepham game and to have come out on top in that game was a humongous win and puts Carey in position to possibly host a first round playoff game here at H Frank Carey High. Catch the boys next game Wednesday against Roslyn at Carey.
